Publications, Events, and Other Updates

Hail, Adventurers! As we near the end of Q1 2025, I wanted to share some overall progress in important areas.

Publications

There are three projects that have been in the works since the past year, and all of those projects have updates. These have been posted elsewhere on the website or on socials, but here’s a cohesive list:

  • Adventurer’s Guide: Published March 4, 2025, the core book is now available online from select retailers—both in paperback and ebook version. There have been some odd formatting snags, but nothing that affects readability. (It’s just the positioning of the triskele image behind headers inside the book and paragraphing of the book description on the online listings.) Purchase links are available on the home page or the Companion Books page.
    • With the book live, there is also a new page on this website for free, downloadable characters and adventures! The first additional character is now available for download. The first adventure will be available for download May 1. Free characters and adventures will be added to that page periodically, either as the author creates them or as players submit them. To submit your character or adventure for inclusion on the website (free or paid), please email talesofambergrove@gmail.com for guidelines. This additional content will be free unless requested by the submitter.
  • Black Cat Tales: Release date set and preorders opened at select retailers! As aptly as it could be, the anthology will be released Friday, June 13! It will be in brick-and-mortar stores, but it is currently available for online preorder from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. For more information and purchase links, head over to the Other Publications tab. We expect to have additional information leading up to publication.
  • Ember on the Anvil: Delayed until 2026. Unfortunately, due to my brain injury, I’ve had to push publication of EotA until I’ve had time to heal properly. It is now planned for publication Q1 or Q2 2026 (hopefully Q1). More on that below.

Events

Due to my condition and recovery, I do not plan to add any events for this year besides the ones listed below.

Other Updates

Slow as it feels, I have been making great strides in my recovery. I have been working through therapy to handle the sensation they’re referring to as like seasickness. I’m sleeping better and walking longer. This week, I’m starting a regime with a speech therapist/memory specialist to work on the cognitive-communication issues (my brain loading on dial-up; vocabulary blocks) and the short-term memory issues. It is expected to take months. While I am recording everything I do put together for Ambergrove during this time, I will not be moving forward with any publications or in-depth drafting until I can ensure that doing so would not cause content issues or continuity gaps because of my current state. It is my sincere hope that upcoming therapies will open the floodgates of recovery and I will be back to work on Ambergrove (albeit slowly) sometime during Q2 2025.

I’ve hit a benchmark birthday during Q1 2025, and while I certainly am struggling with some disappointment after my fall and injury, I am proud, grateful, and more than content with my lot. Five years ago, when I finished the first draft of Ranger’s Odyssey, I just wanted one person to read it and enjoy it. Now, there are six books in the world of Ambergrove and thousands of readers around the world. D&D groups are playing Mara’s adventures in Dawn of the Dragonwolf, and soon, players and DMs will be creating their own characters and adventures using the Ambergrovian Adventurer’s Guide.

I am grateful to all of you, and I hope to see you at this year’s events, hear about your unique characters and adventures, and share the next part of Ember’s story with you real soon.

Until next time, adventurers!
